Theo is out of date Contract rebel not in Arsenal calendar

THEO WALCOTT does NOT feature in Arsenal’s official 2013 calendar — fuelling speculation he is ready to quit the club.

The contract rebel has appeared on the front for the last FOUR years.
But Walcott, 23, is nowhere to be seen in next year’s version after failing to commit his future to the Gunners. The England winger, whose current £65,000-a-week contract expires in June, has snubbed the North London outfit’s offer of a new £80,000-a-week deal.
That has alerted rival Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester City, who are believed to be willing to pay Arsenal £15million for him in next month’s transfer window.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has stated publicly he wants and expects Walcott to sign a new deal with his club.
But many believe the writing is now on the wall after the ace was left out of the calendar.
His team-mates Thomas Vermaelen, Mikel Arteta, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski, Wojciech Szczesny, Aaron Ramsey, Andre Santos, Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Per Mertesacker all had their own pages.
But marketing man’s dream and crowd favourite Walcott was not the only Gunners first-teamer left out.
French full-back Bacary Sagna also does not feature after he slammed Wenger’s transfer policy earlier this season.

Arsenal 6-1 Southampton: We don’t replace we reinvent

They questioned the source of goals, the quality of the squad and direction of the team. Having drawn the opening two games, the media felt vindicated by a rather simplistic analysis that focused on the loss of one key player.  But Arsenal are reorganised through Bould, replenished by Wenger, grown through progression of youth and reinvented this time in the form of Gervinho as centre forward.

Arsenal Transfers: 6 Rumors Fans Would Love to See Become Reality

Arsenal have won four Premier League games in a row, and while they haven't looked dominant in that run, they are finally beginning to look like a top-four side.
As the January transfer window draws near, Arsenal can likely expect some serious action on Arsene Wenger's part, as the current squad is still very much a work in progress.
Theo Walcott is having a career season despite being in the midst of a tenuous contract dispute. Gervinho has cemented himself as a bench player only, and with his impending departure to the Africa Cup of Nations, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will get an extended run in the side.
Beyond this, there is a serious amount of detritus in the squad, some of which will probably be moved on in January, leaving space in the squad for current Arsenal youngsters or, perhaps more likely at this juncture, new faces to be brought into the fold.
Arsenal fans can expect a busy month ahead and will have several expectations for a rising, but still flawed North London side.

Knockout! Wilshere and Podolski land blows as Arsenal qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League

Arsenal's victory was not as easy as it looked either. You would have thought that Arsenal would be playing with a spring in their step after Saturday's thrashing of Tottenham.
But they struggled to find a rhythm in the first half, the closest they came was when Laurent Koscielny crashed a header against the bar.
However, the breakthrough came in the 50th minute when Thomas Vermaelen's cross was flicked on by Giroud and Wilshere pounced on the lay-off.
Wilshere skilfully and subtly lifted the ball over Montpellier keeper Geoffrey Jourden with the sort of clever finesse that both Arsenal and England have missed in his injury absence.
Wilshere loved the moment, celebrating wildly and that gave Arsenal a new momentum even if Montpellier continued to fight hard until the home side's second goal finally broke them in the 63rd minute.
Once again, Giroud provided the assist - his sixth of the season - as the ex-Montpellier striker swapped passes with Podolski and the German forward then lashed a left footed volley into the roof of the net.
With Schalke also winning at home to Olympiacos, the win was enough to take Arsenal through even though Wilshere insisted they must improve to progress even further.
Wilshere added: "We need to finish top. We have to step it up. Tonight wasn't good enough, especially in the first half. We've got to play the best teams to win it so it doesn't matter who we get."

Legends - David Rocastle remembered

The 1991/92 season was to be Rocastle’s last in an Arsenal shirt. He played 48 matches, and his performances belied the serious problem with his knee that had been diagnosed as degenerative. One of his finest moments came at Old Trafford, on a wet Saturday in October 1991. His team a goal down, Rocastle went on a mazy run which started in his own half and took him through three challenges, before, surrounded by four opponents, he clipped a 25-yard shot over the goalkeeper. A midfield containing the likes of England skipper Bryan Robson simply could not live with him that day. Four months later, David’s final goal for Arsenal came at Highbury in February 1992 – another 1-1 draw against Manchester United, played out before a packed 41,000 crowd. The season ended with a fiery match at home to Southampton, where Rocastle reigned supreme. Southampton’s side declared their intent as an early challenge left Limpar unconscious with a fractured cheekbone, and what followed wasn’t for the fainthearted. “Rocky” stood his ground, fearing no challenge, while his incisive passing carved out chance after chance for Wright and Campbell. Rocastle’s vision, combined with the pace of the Arsenal strikers, tore the Saints defence to shreds, and he left the pitch with the applause of the fans ringing in his ears.

Knockout! Wilshere and Podolski land blows as Arsenal qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League

"Olivier is a guy who fights for the team. Technically it was not one of his best games tonight but after the game when you measure his performance it's often decisive. He had two assists and defensively he is always reliable.
"Giroud is good when he plays completely on the offside line. Sometimes when he comes deep, that's not such his game. When he's a target man and uses his link play he is fantastic as he can win the ball in the air, score with his feet and can be the complete striker.
"Who wouldn't be worried about being compared to van Persie? But life is like that and you can only make your life with your own qualities and that's all.
"We will play to win and finish top of the Group. Sometimes it's hard to know whether to finish first or second but statistically it's still better to finish top of the Group.
"We have qualified for the last 16 the last 13 years. It's not the most glamorous thing but it's not as easy as it looks as there's not many teams that do it. So I am proud to do it."

Knockout! Wilshere and Podolski land blows as Arsenal qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League

Arsene Wenger last night promised to rest Jack Wilshere - even after claiming the Arsenal midfielder is nearly back to his best.
Fit-again Wilshere, who was out for 15 months with a career threatening ankle injury, scored his first goal since November 2010 as Arsenal made it through to the knock-out stages for the 13th year running.
But Wilshere's superb goal and latest step on his comeback trail came with a warning from Wenger that he will not allow the England midfielder to suffer burnout despite his impressive return.
Lukas Podolski's stunning volley and another two assists for Olivier Giroud helped Arsenal to a hard fought victory over Montpellier but it was Wilshere's comeback goal which will live longest in the memory.
