Arsene Wenger last night promised to rest Jack Wilshere - even after claiming the Arsenal midfielder is nearly back to his best.
Fit-again
Wilshere, who was out for 15 months with a career threatening ankle
injury, scored his first goal since November 2010 as Arsenal made it
through to the knock-out stages for the 13th year running.
But
Wilshere's superb goal and latest step on his comeback trail came with a
warning from Wenger that he will not allow the England midfielder to
suffer burnout despite his impressive return.
Lukas Podolski's
stunning volley and another two assists for Olivier Giroud helped
Arsenal to a hard fought victory over Montpellier but it was Wilshere's
comeback goal which will live longest in the memory.
